Finals Performer | Yebin Yoo

3MBS is pleased to welcome back violinist Yebin Yoo for the third episode of the finals for The Talent. Yebin and accompanist Leigh Harrold will be broadcast live from the Lady Marigold Southey Performance Studio at 7pm on October 25th.

Yebin is a full music scholar at Firbank Grammar School, she also extends her music studies at the Australian National Academy of Music, where she studies under Dr. Robin Wilson. Yebin is regularly invited to participate in chamber and orchestral projects at the music school.

2016 has been a year of notable performance achievements for Yebin. She was selected as one of the six finalists for the Dorcas McClean Travelling Scholarship and is a finalist in the Kendall National Violin Competition and National Youth Concerto Competition. She was a major prize-winner at the Open Instrumental Australian Vocal and Concerto Competition, also receiving the Audience Prize for the event. Earlier this year, Yebin was invited to perform for the Music in the Round concert as the inaugural Young Performer of the Year at the Abbotsford Convent.

In addition to the aforementioned awards, Yebin has been the winner of the Hephzibah Menuhin Memorial Award, John Chandler Memorial Award and the Preston Youth Concerto Competition. She has been a prize-winner at the 3MBS Young Performers Award and was selected for the IX International Tchaikovsky Competition for Young Musicians, held in Russia. She has appeared as a soloist with the Preston Symphony Orchestra, Queensland Youth Symphony and Percy Grainger Youth Orchestra, performing the Khachaturian, Tchaikovsky and Sibelius concertos.

Yebin and Leigh will perform the following repertoire:

  • Adagio from Sonata No.1 in G minor by Bach (solo violin)
  • Tzigane by Ravel (violin and piano)
