3MBS will host Cellist Allan Tao to perform in round four of the finals for series 3 of The Talent. He will be joined by associate artist Helene Hatton, broadcast live at 7pm on Tuesday November 1.
At age five Allan began his musical journey with piano tuition. A year later he was introduced to the cello and has playing ever since. Currently Allan is undertaking his Bachelor of Laws (Honours) and Bachelor of Music at Monash University. He is studying cello under David Berlin, Principal Cellist of the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra.
Allan was the recipient of both the AMEB Henri Touzeau Cello Award and the Elizabeth Stainkamph Memorial Prize in 2008. In 2011 Allan achieved his LMusA in cello, receiving a pass with Distinction. While studying at Haileybury College, Allan completed VCE Units 3 and 4 in Music Performance on cello, gaining a RAW score of 50, the highest achievable mark in a VCE subject.
This evening Helene and Allan will present:
- Three pieces from Suite Populaire Espagnole by Manuel De Falla
El Pano Moruno | Asturiana | Jota
- Pezzo Capriccioso, Op.62 by Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky.
