3MBS is excited to welcome back Guitarist Yunjia Liu to perform live from the Lady Marigold Southey Performance Studio at 7pm on Tuesday November 15. Yunjia will perform solo as she competes in the sixth round of finals for Season 3 of The Talent.
Yunjia relocated to Australia after seven years of studying Traditional Chinese Medicine. She made the leap to Melbourne in order to pursue her dream of performing, the intercontinental switch fueled by a desire to seek her true identity.
Currently, Yunjia is a student at the Melbourne Conservatorium of Music, where she studies with renowned guitarist Tonié Field. Throughout her tuition she has begun to form an individual style, with particular interest in the Celtic, Finger-Style, Chinese Folk and Western Folk genres.
Yunjia maintains an active soloist career in Melbourne which she complements with chamber ensemble work. She has toured both Australia and her native China as well as Germany, Finland and the United Kingdom.
2016 marks another important step in the young-artists’ journey. Yunjia recently returned to Australia following the completion of an exchange to the University of Birmingham in England.
Tonight Yunjia will perform the following solo repertoire:
Movements I – IV of Koyunbaba – Suite for Guitar, Op. 19 by Carlo Domeniconi
Can’t listen live? Don’t worry! There will be a podcast available from November 16.
