Every week we introduce you to the performers we’ve had on The Talent in 2017! Ruby Lulham was our outstanding clarinettist from Week 2.
Since picking up the clarinet at the age of 9, music has played a huge role Ruby’s life. In grade 3 when picking an instrument, Ruby decided on the clarinet simply because her mother had her old instrument gathering dust in the back of a cupboard at home… However she soon came to love the clarinet as she was guided by incredible teachers who have taught her everything about music that she loves today.
Now Ruby is studying Clarinet Performance at the Sir Zelman Cowen School of Music at Monash University, and has been fortunate enough to receive incredible opportunities to perform both as a soloist and in small and large ensembles. This year she has played with the Monash Academy Orchestra performing works by Haydn, Sibelius, Debussy and Mozart. She has performed in chamber groups, most memorably performing Mendelssohn’s Concert Piece No. 2 in semester one of 2016 and has also had the opportunity to perform as a soloist, just recently performing the Mozart Clarinet Concerto in the finals for the Monash University Concerto Competition which was a performance highlight.
