Who’s in the hot seat this week? Soprano Dorcas Lim started studying music from a young age. She is currently in her 3rd year of studies at the Melbourne Conservatorium of Music, and a scholar with Opera Scholars Australia. Last year, Dorcas performed alongside Teddy Tahu Rhodes and Guy Noble in Voice in the Twilight Concert as part of Opera in the Alps 2016. The performance was of the duet ‘La ci darem la mano’ from Mozart’s Don Giovanni. Dorcas received the Hedy Holt & Roger Prochazka Memorial Award during the National Liederfest Competition 2016 and was a finalist for the Ringwood Eisteddfod Grand Aria Section in 2015 and 2016. Later in the year, She will be playing the role of Aréthuze in M.A Charpentier’s Baroque opera ‘La Descente D’orphee aux enfers’ with the Melbourne Conservatorium of Music. Dorcas has also worked with various artists through coaching and masterclasses such as Dr Deen Larsen, Christine Douglas, Antoinette Halloran, Andrea Katz, Raymond Lawrence, Stefan Cassomenos and Yvonne Kenny.
In Dorcas’ performance, she’ll be performing four works. ‘L’invitation au voyage’ by Henri Duparc, ‘Les filles de Cadix’ by Leo Delibes, ‘Das Rosenband’ by Richard Strauss and the showstopper, ‘Saper Vorreste’ by Giuseppe Verdi.
