Playing in episode 7, Jonathan is currently in his fourth year of Bachelor of Music/Bachelor of Laws at Monash University. After being achieving his AMusA and LMusA in 2010 and 2012, he went on to complete his Chief Music Studies at the Sir Zelman Cowen School of Music in 2015, and now continues to study with Dr. Mikhail Solovei.
His achievements at the School of Music include being a finalist for the Jascha Spivakovsky Prize, as well the Monash Concerto and Aria Competition in 2015, playing Rachmaninoff’s 2nd Piano Concerto. In 2016, he was also a finalist at the South Eastern Arts Festival.
Jonathan has recently had the pleasure of performing at several wonderful venues, including the Supreme Court Library of Victoria, the St. Kilda Town Hall, the Melbourne Recital Centre Salon and the Duneira Homestead in Mt. Macedon. He is especially drawn to the masterworks of Romantic composers such as Chopin, Liszt, Franck, Scriabin and Rachmaninoff, though Spanish and Chinese music have been some more exotic inclusions in recent programs.
Outside of his music studies, he is also interested in the law, film music and contemporary dance. In his episode, Jonathan will be paying PROKOFIEV’s Suggestion diabolique (‘Diabolical Suggestion’) Op. 4, GRAINGER’s Ramble on the last love-duet in Richard Strauss’s Opera “The Rose-Bearer” and RACHMANINOFF’s Etude-Tableaux Op. 39, in E-flat minor.
