Melbourne clarinettist Magdalenna Krstevska has been playing clarinet since the age of nine. In 2015 she completed a Bachelor of Music Performance with First Class Honours at the Melbourne Conservatorium of Music, studying under David Griffiths and Paul Dean.
Magdalenna has been the recipient of numerous awards and prizes. In 2015 she was the winner of both the Australian National Young Virtuoso of the Year Award and the 3MBS Young Performer of the Year Award. She was also awarded first prize in the prestigious CLASAX Buffet Crampon 190th Anniversary Award. She has appeared as a soloist with orchestras on three occasions, performing concertos by Weber and Manevich. She has played in masterclasses and received tutelage from many international clarinettists, including Andrew Marriner, Yehuda Gilad, Antonio Saiote, Michael Arrignon, Wenzel Fuchs, Andreas Sunden and Florent Heau.
Magdalenna also has extensive orchestral experience, having played with orchestras since the age of fourteen. She has been a member of the Australian Youth Orchestra, Australian International Symphony Orchestra Institute, Melbourne Youth Orchestra, and the Melbourne Conservatorium of Music Orchestra, among others.
In 2016, she participated in AYO’s International Tour, performing under the baton of Manfred Honeck and with soloist Helene Grimaud. Magdalenna is currently studying at the Australian National Academy of Music, under David Thomas.
