Cameron Smith

Cameron is a passionate young musician, educator and clarinettist. He studied Honours in performance at the Melbourne Conservatorium of Music with teachers Philip Arkinstall and Paul Champion.

As a soloist Cameron won the Regional Section of the Australian Youth Music Competition in (2010) and in the same year was invited to play in Top Class and Top Acts for his VCE Recital.

At MCM, he was awarded Bebbington Prize for best Woodwind Recital and winner of the Chamber Music Competition, both in his first year (2012).

More recently he was a Finalist (2014) and winner (2016) of the ANAM Chamber Music Competition with the Stravinsky Octet.

Throughout his studies he has played numerous MCM Symphony Orchestra programs, worked with Victorian Opera (2011-2016) and recently participated in the Australian Symphony Orchestra Institute in Hobart (2016).

Cameron stays busy freelancing with orchestras and musical organisations throughout Melbourne alongside developing his career as a sought-after woodwind educator.

Cameron will be performing Debussy’s Premiere Rhapsodie and Schumann Fantasy Pieces on the 22nd August.
