Rose Kavanagh

Rose is a Melbourne based violinist with a diverse love of chamber and orchestral performance. Originally from N.S.W., Rose studied with Dr Susan Collins at the University of Newcastle before moving to Melbourne to undertake post-graduate studies with Dr Curt Thompson at the Melbourne Conservatorium.

Recent performance highlights include touring with the Sculthorpe String Quintet and completing her first Masters recital. Rose also has a penchant for Opera and Music theatre, and in recent years has been engaged as Concert Master with the Australian International Opera Company and Lyric Opera Melbourne.

Rose is a recipient of the Pauline Snow Scholarship for Strings, the Errol Collins Memorial Violin Scholarship and in 2016, the Corinna D’Hage Mayer String Scholarship.

Rose will be performing Sonata for violin and piano, 1st movement, Allegro con fuco by Francis Poulenc,  and Portrait of Australia by Raymond Hanson on the 5th of September.

  1. What a beautiful sound, and such musical playing. I loved the repertoire too. A thoroughly enjoyable performance. I hope we hear from this performer again.
