Eira are a piano quartet that have been playing together for 2 years. They formed at the Melbourne Conservatorium of Music in the year 2015, and have performed at Melba Hall and the Grainger museum, and for Oleh Krysa, Stephen Orton and Harvey de Souza. In the year 2017, they were selected to feature on 3MBS radio’s ‘The Talent’ program, as well as awarded the Athenaeum Club Instrumental Ensemble Prize.
Rennata Morrison, violinist, recently completed her Bachelor of Music (Degree with Honours) at the Melbourne Conservatorium of Music. While at the conservatorium, Rennata has been the recipient of numerous string and faculty scholarships. An avid orchestral and chamber musician, Rennata loves sharing her passion for music with others, and is fascinated by the unique power it has to connect with people.
Oscar Woinarski, cellist, is a 4th year cello student enrolled in a Bachelor of Music (Honours) degree Melbourne Conservatorium of Music. Oscar begun cello when he was in Year 2, and is currently actively engaged in orchestral and chamber ensembles where he enjoys playing music that ranges from baroque to contemporary Australian works. Through his experiences in ensemble/solo playing, teaching, orchestral management and music leadership, a love and passion for music has been manufactured.
Jin Tong Long, violist, is currently an undergraduate at the University of Melbourne. She started on violin before discovering her love for the viola at the age of 10, and has been a recipient of numerous string scholarships. She has participated in numerous chamber ensembles as well as leading Melbourne orchestras. Through these she has worked under the baton of numerous renowned conductors including Richard Gill AO, Elim Chan and Richard Davis.
Louis Nicoll, pianist, is currently in his honours year at the University of Melbourne. He begun piano at the age of 6, and still enjoys it, most of the time. In 2016, he won Melbourne Youth Music’s Virtuosity competition, and in 2017 was the sole recipient of the Bill Burrell Memorial Scholarship. When he isn’t practicing, Louis likes to read, cook, and worry about not practicing.
Eira Quartet will be performing the first and second movements of Copland’s Piano Quartet on Tuesday 10th of October.
