Jessica Yu- Violin

Jessica Yu is currently in year 12 studying at Mount Waverley Secondary College. Having begun lessons in 2015, she is now quickly progressing under the tutelage of Tatiana Chudnovskaya. Jessica enjoys a wide range of musical styles, including both solo and ensemble works. She has played in the chamber string ensemble in school, the Australian New Goldberg Orchestra and is now part of a string trio. She has repeatedly won music awards from her school in 2015, 2016, 2018 and recently performed as a soloist in Hamer Hall as part of the NEVR Youth Concert, playing a selection of Bartok’s Romanian Dances. Jessica finds herself indulging of the late romantics to the early 20th century, particularly the likes of Wieniawski and Ysäye, and finds inspiration in musicians such as Maxim Vengerov, Hilary Hahn and Veriko Tchumburidze. Jessica aspires to become a performer and teacher, hoping to spread the beauty of music.
