Introducing our presenter for this season of The Talent!
Jessica Carrascalão Heard
Jessica Carrascalão Heard is a soprano and journalist based in Melbourne. She graduated from her BA/BMus (Hons) from Monash University in 2009, and recently returned to Monash to study a Master of Journalism. She’s an active performer around Melbourne, and is currently playing the role of “Aunty Bartola/Basilia” in Opera Australia’s Victorian Schools Tour production of The Barber of Seville. As a journalist, her work has been published in The Age, Limelight Magazine, CutCommon and the three Hyperlocal News mastheads, CBD News, Southbank Local News and Docklands News. She has also interned at the ABC for 7.30 and ABC News Breakfast. She’s a familiar voice for 3MBS listeners as the host of The Talent, In Performance and Prima La Musica.
In her spare time she feeds her not-so-secret love of good food and Gilbert and Sullivan by cooking complicated dishes while singing along to recordings of Pirates of Penzance.
