Daniel Yao – Violin

Daniel Yao was born and grew up in Shanghai, China. He started learning the violin at the age of 6. He has been core member of his high school orchestra and Shanghai Youth Orchestra. In 2017 he moved to Melbourne and studied VCE in high school. This year he begins first year at Melbourne University studying violin performance. He has also been members of Melbourne Youth Orchestra for 3 years and currently serve as principle second violin.
While being such a passionate orchestral performer, he also loves playing both as a member of string quartet and a soloist. He studied with Xilun Zhang, former violinist at Shanghai Symphony Orchestra when he was in China. He is currently studying with Markiyan Melnychenko who encourages him to expand his repertoire and take every opportunity to perform them. Earlier this year he has been awarded first prize at Ringwood Eisteddfod. Daniel is looking forward to play in The Talent as an opportunity to gain experience.
