Samuel is a passionate pianist under the tutelage of Len Vorster. He is currently a Year 11 student at Scotch College. This year, he received an Honorary Award in the Boroondara Eisteddfod Piano Competition, alongside the Lions Club Legacy scholarship.
At Scotch College, Samuel enjoys playing in the school’s Symphony Orchestra as Principal flautist. In September, Samuel will make his concerto debut at Hamer Hall with Liszt’s Piano Concerto No. 1. He will reprise this performance in a tour of the USA.
Aside from music, Samuel also enjoys playing chess. He is the Vice-Captain of chess at Scotch College, and has represented his school at many tournaments.
He will be performing:
- Faure Nocturne No 4 in E-flat Op.36
- Grainger ‘Irish Tune from County Derry’
- Beethoven Piano Sonata no. 7 mvt. 1
Sam is not only a great pianist and flautist, but a great friend and mentor. 🙂
