Leanne McGowan – Violin

Leanne McGowan is 18 years old and is currently studying violin with Dr Robin Wilson at the Australian National Academy of Music. Leanne performed as a soloist with the Queensland Symphony Orchestra (QSO) as winner of the QSO Young Instrumentalist Prize. Her latest collaboration was with the Northern Rivers Symphony Orchestra late last year when she performed the Paganini Violin Concerto. Leanne also performed as a concerto soloist with the Queensland Youth Symphony (QYS) in Brisbane and during their international tour to China and Germany. She toured regional Queensland as concertmaster and soloist with the Queensland Youth Orchestras (QYO) Chamber Orchestra last year.
Leanne has won numerous prizes over the years, including 2nd prize at the Animato International Violin Competition and performed as a recitalist for the National Youth Concerto Competition. She competed as a semi-finalist at the Ilona Feher International Violin Competition in Budapest last year. Leanne has extensive orchestral experience with QYO, where she was Concertmaster of QYS in 2018, and with Australian Youth Orchestra (AYO) where she was the concertmaster of the Bishop Orchestra in 2019 at the AYO National Music Camp.
