Who’s Ben Fu?
I am Ben Fu, and I am from China. I have learned piano for 8 years. When I was 5 my mother bought a piano. I believe my interest in music started from that time. My grandmother used to be a piano teacher. When I was 7 years old, she introduced me a very good piano teacher: Mr. Yang, a professor of SiChuan Conservatory of Music. Last year I came to Australia, and I met my second teacher: Glenn Riddle. He is a very good teacher and gives me a lot of opportunities to perform and competition. My favorite composer is Bach. His music always makes my mind purified. It seems that Bach’s music is a flowing vertical line and a flowing church. Full of philosophy, seriousness, and reverence for God, but without losing the fluidity of music. I hope to express myself through my performance.
What piece of music inspires him?
Rachmaninoff’s Piano Concerto No. 3 in D Minor, Op. 30
What will he perform on the show?
- Granados: Allegro di Concierto
- J.S. Bach: “Sarabande” and “Gigue” from French Suite No. 5 in G Major, BWV 816
