Our next catch-up is with the Invictus Quartet. No strangers to 3MBS, the quartet appeared on The Talent in 2017 and 2019, as well as catching a performance just in time before COVID hit in March this year, on Melbourne in Concert.

What have you been up to since your last appearance at 3MBS?

We were initially preparing for a concert showcasing some new Australian works, but we had to pause our rehearsals when lockdown restrictions were put in place. We have been meeting over Zoom every week to play for each other and to discuss ideas of how we can keep sharing music remotely. We have been having a lot of fun making “ISO-Covers” of a mixture of classical and contemporary music to share on social media.

How are you doing/coping during lockdown?

We have been using this lockdown to rest and spend some time doing things we love. There have been times where it has been frustrating not knowing when this will end, but we are trying to stay positive through it all and are looking forward to seeing the other side.

How has COVID impacted your life/music/creativity?

This season has made us really question what music means to us and the world, and what purpose it serves. It has pushed us to be more creative in how we share our music and to improve our online presence as a quartet. We have picked up a lot of new skills in recording, video editing and designing that we would not have otherwise developed.

What’s your number 1 strategy for beating the lockdown blues?

Staying motivated during this time can be challenging so we have been creating short term goals individually and as a group to help keep us focused.

What do you look forward to most post-lockdown?

We are really just excited to be able to play together again as well as perform and enjoymusic live. We also can’t wait to eat out again!!! 😍😍😍

How can we support you and your music?

You can keep up with us via our website and social media. Over the next year, we will be collaborating with local artists Phoebe Day, Emily Soon and NirTsfaty at the Melbourne Recital Centre. We also have a performance planned in Beechworth at the end of 2021.
