Our second performer for Episode 3 of The Talent is pianist Richard Liang!

Growing up in a small town in Southern China, Richard would have never expected to find himself on a musical path. Like many others, piano was more a chore at a young age for him than it was a medium of expression; Richard didn’t truly find its captivity until his studies at the Melbourne Conservatorium of Music. Nothing had felt more satisfying and euphoric than sharing his story through beautiful music.

Richard has had the wonderful opportunity to perform in various solo and chamber masterclasses and competitions in Melbourne, Queensland, and even in the comfort of his own home due to the COVID pandemic. As he continues his master’s in 2021, Richard looks forward to further sharing his love and passion for Classical music.

Richard also finds himself often immersed in the wider soundscapes beyond the Classical world and enjoys taking the quiet moments in life to reflect through song writing. His songs have been featured on a collaborative full-length album and two EPs, and hopes to continue connecting and inspiring others through heartfelt lyrics.

Richard will perform:
– Schumann: Mvts 1 and 2 from Piano Sonata in G Minor, Op. 22 No. 2
– Schumann-Liszt: Widmung Piano Transcription

Hear Richard perform by tuning in at 7pm next Tuesday, 23 March! Tune in to 103.5FM 3MBS Fine Music Melbourne, or stream the performance at 3mbs.org.au
