16 year old Ben Fu was born in China, beginning piano studies at the age of 7. He is now a Year 10 student of Patterson River Secondary College.

Ben has won several first prizes since 2019 after coming in Australia, mostly recently winning the first prize of Boroondara Eisteddfod piano concerto competition. He studies piano with Glenn Riddle and Ben’s favorite composer is Bach. Bach’s music seems pure and unadulterated to Ben. Full of philosophy, seriousness, and reverence for God, but without losing the fluidity of music. It is his dream that one day be able to play Bach’s Goldberg Variations.

Ben presented his performance in The Talent Season 1 2020 Episode 2 in March of this year. It was an amazing experience for him. To finish what’s left undone, Ben decided to try again in The Talent 2021 and he is going to present some new pieces to the audiences.

Ben will perform:

Tchaikovsky: Dumka Op. 59

Prokofiev: “Precipitato” from Piano Sonata No. 7

Hear Ben perform by tuning in at 7pm next Tuesday, 30 March! Tune in to 103.5FM 3MBS Fine Music Melbourne, or stream the performance at 3mbs.org.au
