Our next performer for Episode 2 is pianist Ben Fu!

16-year-old Ben Fu was born in China, and began his piano studies at the age of 7. He is now a Year 10 student of Patterson River Secondary College.

Ben has won several first prizes since 2019 after coming to Australia, mostly recently being the first prize of 2020 Boroondara Eisteddfod piano concerto competition. He studies piano with Glenn Riddle and Ben’s favourite composer is Bach. Bach’s music seems pure and unadulterated to Ben. Full of philosophy, seriousness, and reverence for God, but without losing the fluidity of music. It is his dream that one day be able to play Bach’s Goldberg Variations.

Ben presented his performance in The Talent Season 1 in 2020 and 2021. It was an amazing experience for him, and he wishes to bring more fine music for the show’s audience again.

Ben will perform:

  • Chopin: Ballade No. 3 in A-flat Major, Op. 47
  • Prokofiev: Toccata, Op. 11

Music Ben loves:

  • Mozart: Piano Concerto No. 27. KV 595 (performance by Clara Haskil)
  • Mozart: Rondo in D Major, K. 485 (performed by Clara Haskill)

Tune in at 7pm this coming Tuesday to hear Ben perform! Hear the live broadcast at 3mbs.org.au, on the wireless at 103.5FM or catch up later on our podcast.
