Jenna Choi is a Melbourne-based flautist.

She is a graduate of the Victorian College of the Arts Secondary School and has recently completed a First Class Honours degree at the Melbourne Conservatorium of Music, under the tutelage of Mardi McSullea.

Throughout her studies, Jenna’s passion for the flute was truly ignited. She is fascinated by the flute’s ability to tell a story through its colours and inflections.

Jenna is an avid lover of orchestral music, and has performed as principal flute of the University of Melbourne Symphony Orchestra. A memorable performance is Maurice Ravel’s Bolero, under the baton of Richard Davis.

Jenna has also performed in masterclasses by Michel Bellavance, Prudence Davis and Trevor Wye in England.

In 2016, Jenna was the recipient of the Premier’s VCE Award for Music Investigation and the John Hopkins Music Award presented by VCASS. Over the following years, she was awarded the AG McMillen Arts Trust, the Ellinor Gertrude Harris Bequest, and the Bebbington Prize, presented by the University of Melbourne.

In addition to performing, Jenna enjoys teaching music to young children. Jenna strives to help them discover their love of music, just like the way her teachers have guided her throughout her musical journey.

Jenna will perform:

  • P.Sancan: Sonatine for Flute and Piano
  • C.Debussy: Beau Soir

With associate artist Peter de Jager.
