We’re approaching the half-way mark for this season of The Talent! Tonight, performances from mezzo-soprano Hannah Kostros and pianist Ben Fu with programmes featuring Schumann, Liszt, and Stravinsky. Continue reading to learn more about Hannah and Ben.

Graduating with first class honours from the Melbourne Conservatorium of Music in 2018; Hannah was the recipient of the Sleath Lowry Scholarship from the University of Melbourne. This enabled her to study with vocal coaches in Italy, Denmark and the US in 2019. Hannah is now undertaking her Masters in Opera Performance at the Melbourne Conservatorium of Music and has performed the roles Ottavia in Monteverdi’s L’Incoronazione di Poppea and Alma March in Adamo’s Little Women. In May, she made her debut with Victorian Opera as Winter in Simon Bruckard’s The Selfish Giant directed by Cameron Menzies. She is looking forward to performing the role of Hermia in Benjamin Britten’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream in December.

Pianist Ben Fu

17 year old Ben Fu was born in ChengDu China, beginning piano studies at the age of 7, before migrating to Australia. Ben is now a Year 11 student at Patterson River Secondary College. Ben studies with Glenn Riddle and has won numerous prizes in both China and Australia, mostly recently winning 1st Prize in the Polish Music Competition Australia, 1st Boroondara Eisteddfod Concerto Competition and several competition in Eisteddfod by the bay. Ben has also broadcast on 3MBS many times and recently gave a lunchtime concert at St. Pauls Cathedral Melbourne.

Ben will perform:
