
If you enjoyed our first violin performance of the season last week, you’re in for a treat tomorrow night when The Talent presents a double-violin episode! Our seventh episode of the season will feature performances from violinists Scot Fan and Sophia Shaw. They will perform programmes ranging from Bach to Britten, Lalo to Prokofiev, before receiving on-air feedback from mentors Dean Sky-Lucas and Rochelle Ughetti. Violinist Scot Fan
Scot is a 13 year old violinist and pianist. Scot started learning the piano at the age of four and commenced violin half year later. Scot is currently learning violin with Mark Mogilevski and piano with Elyane Laussade.
Scot has participated in various international music competitions since he turned six. Through the past years Scot has won numerous awards and prizes locally and internationally. Scot has performed in Australia, China, USA, UK, Austria, Singapore and Hong Kong. Scot performed at concerts and award ceremonies at famous musical halls such as the Art House Singapore, Weil Hall Carnegie Hall New York, Royal Albert Hall London, Altes Rathaus Vienna. Scot successfully completed his L.Mus.A violin in 2021.
Scot is an active musician at school. He is a member of numerous orchestras, chamber music groups and school choir. Music Captain at Trinity Grammar Junior school and concert master at Touzsou String orchestra at Scotch College.

Violinist Sophia Shaw
Sophia is the violinist in the Esplanade Trio. They were formed in 2021 and have received an outstanding grade for their VCE Music Performance. In the Strike A Chord Finals they were awarded the Sutherland Trio Mentorship, 3MBS and the Australian Music Prize. The Esplanade Trio are active performers, at the Athenaeum Club, Music Matinee at Scot’s Church, at school events and chamber competitions. As a piano trio, they participated in the 2021 Melbourne Conservatorium for Young Artist Academy (MCYAA). Sophia was a member of the ACO academy and has been featured on Arts Weekly at 3MBS. She is a recipient of the Robert Stolz Viennese Music Society Inc.

- B.Britten: Suite for violin and piano op.6: Mvt.5
