With only two weeks until our season finale, the tenth and final heats episode of The Talent, Season 2 broadcasts live tomorrow night. Flautist Lily Bryant and Devina Christi will perform for our mentors Dean Sky-Lucas and Laila Engel with programmes featuring works by Telemann, Lili Boulanger, Chopin, and Debussy. Canberra flautist Lily Bryant initially chose to learn the flute in order to sit next to her friends in the school band, but soon developed a love for the instrument. In 2017 she migrated to sunny Brisbane to study at Queensland Conservatorium, where she completed her Bachelor of Music under the guidance of Virginia Taylor and was awarded the Conservatorium Medal, prior to commencing study at the Australian National Academy of Music (ANAM) in 2020. In 2022, she is the inaugural flute participant of the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra Academy program. 

Earlier this year, Lily was awarded First Prize in the Australian Youth Classical Music Competition, as well as First Prize in the Leslie Barklamb Flute Scholarship. 

As a freelance musician, Lily has appeared in performances with such ensembles as Arcadia Winds, Inventi Ensemble, Rubiks Collective, Crosswinds Ensemble and Ensemble Q, and is a casual musician with the Melbourne, Queensland and Canberra Symphony orchestras. 

When not practising, Lily loves to write, and can be found online as a regular contributor to Limelight and CutCommon magazines.

Pianist Devina Christi

Indonesian-born pianist, Devina Christi Soeryawinata started learning piano at the age of 8. As a classically-trained pianist, she shows enthusiasm in performing, particularly in romantic works. She is also recently active in various competitions and masterclasses. Her recent achievements include as a scholarship recipient of Melbourne International Undergraduate Scholarship for recognition of academic achievements in music awarded by the University of Melbourne, 2nd prize winner at International Grand Prize Virtuoso in December 2021, and an invitation to perform at Teatro Studio Borgna, Auditorium Parco Della Musica in Rome, Italy. 

In December 2021, Devina moved to Melbourne to undertake her tertiary studies, currently pursuing Bachelor of Biomedicine with Concurrent Diploma in Music at the University of Melbourne, studying piano under the guidance of Caroline Almonte. She would like to inspire people with music as well as a platform to express her feelings and life journey.

Devina enjoys performing very much and would love to start her musical career and develop the music community further as she recently moved to Melbourne. 

Devina will perform:

  • F.Chopin: Scherzo No. 1 in B minor, Op. 20
  • C.Debussy: Estampes – Jardin sous la Pluie
