The Talent is back in 2024 and we are delighted to introduce the first two of twenty brilliant young performers who will be playing live on 3MBS during Season 1: violinist Paige Wu and pianist Luke Zhang. Paige and Luke will each perform programmes including works by Sarasate, Beriot, Liszt, and Vine before receiving feedback from our mentors.

Paige fell in love with violin at a very young age and began playing at it at the age of five. She has won multiple awards and recently awarded her AmusA violin with Distinction. Paige was extremely lucky to have been able to experience orchestral and chamber experiences, she’s an active member of Melbourne Youth Orchestra Summer School, Melbourne String Ensemble and Melbourne Chamber Youth Artistic Academy, where Paige performed in the Mendeholssen Piano Trio and invited for master lessons with Jun Iwasaki. Paige loves violin very much and hopes to achieve larger goals in the future.

Paige is also a K-pop dance lover. She successfully choreographed and won the dance competition at school. Paige is passionate about singing and drama, she has passed the school audition and secured a main role in school musical production 2024. Paige also enjoyed running and swimming, she is selected to attend the District Asthletic/GSV and won multiple awards.

Pianist Luke Zhang

Luke Zhang, a New Zealand born pianist recently completed his Master of Music Studies in Piano Performance under Stephanie McCallum at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music. He began learning from Michelle Park in 2014, studied with Paul Rickard-Ford in 2017, Stephen McIntyre at the Melbourne Conservatorium of Music in 2018, and completed his Bachelor of Music majoring in Performance under Daniel Herscovitch at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music in 2021. He is also a violinist and has performed as first violin of the Hansori Music Ensemble since 2015 and performed annually at the Sydney Opera House on solo piano, violin, and string ensemble. He has also performed in many eisteddfods, achieved numerous awards, and performed internationally in Shanghai, China. Luke continues to build his performance repertoire and aspires to perform internationally.

In 2024, He will continue to study at the Melbourne Conservatorium of Music with Glenn Riddle.
