Violinist Angela Deng
Angela is twelve years old, a current year 7 student at Strathcona Girls Grammar. Gaining inspiration from her sister who plays the cello, she has displayed a great passion for music since a young age. Angela commenced her violin studies at the age of five and has grown to love the instrument. She believes music is a powerful way to express a range of emotions and colours.
In 2022, Angela completed her AMEB Grade 8 Violin Exam with High Distinction and is currently preparing her AmusA this year under the guidance of her teacher Markiyan Melnychenko. She particularly enjoys romantic period music due to its expressive nature, inspiring her to paint her own storylines. Angela has been awarded multiple awards at local Eisteddfods and has been invited to perform at Carnegie Hall following receiving a 2nd place prize of the American Protege piano and strings competition in her age group. She is an active member in the local music community and regularly performs at local MSV concerts and retirement homes.
Angela enjoys playing music in orchestral and chamber settings. She was a member in Melbourne Youth Chamber Strings and had the privilege of being the Concertmaster of Bishop Orchestra of State Music Camp in 2023. She enjoys playing as violinist in her school’s chamber group.
Aside from music, Angela is passionate about art. She loves drawing, painting and making clay models in her spare time. She also enjoys singing and theatre. Angela is looking forward to her Europe music tour with Cloud Youth Orchestra later this year, where she can receive valuable master classes and experience some exciting performance opportunities.
