Joseph Lallo is a Saxophone Lecturer at the Melbourne Conservatorium of Music and performs internationally as a soloist, chamber musician and conductor. He is the Artistic Director of the Melbourne International Saxophone Festival, and a member of the chamber music ensembles ‘Collide’, with cellist Yelian He and pianist Yasmin Rowe, and ‘Duo Obax’, with oboist Briana Leaman. Passionate about performing new Australian music, Joseph has premiered over 30 works for saxophone, and in 2021 recorded for ABC Classics.

Episode 2: pianist Ben Fu
16-year-old Ben Fu was born in China, and began his piano studies at the age of 7. Ben has won several first prizes since 2019 after coming to Australia, mostly recently being the first prize of 2020 Boroondara Eisteddfod piano concerto competition.

Episode 9: cellist Jun Gardiner
Jun began learning the cello with Suzuki music teacher Takao Mizushima in Sydney at the age of 5. He relocated back to Melbourne in 2016 and completed his Suzuki study under Shoreh Phillips and currently studies under Michael Dahlenburg, cellist in the Australian String Quartet.
Episode 9: pianist Thong Truong
Thong is a third year Bachelor of Commerce and Music student at Monash University. Prior to entering Monash, Thong studied with Wendy McLean on piano and with Jennifer Chou on pipe organ. At Monash he has studied with Anthony Halliday and is currently under the tutelage of Dr Tomoe Kawabata.

Our guest mentor for tonight is contralto Liane Keegan! Born in Australia, Liane received scholarships from the Opera Foundation Australia, Shell Royal Covent Garden Scholarship which enabled her to study at the National Opera Studio London.
